The Museum "Zum Pulvermacher

On the trail of the powder making tradition

The local history museum gives insight into the history of Elsbethen. On three floors you can see thousands of exhibits ranging from prehistoric times (fossils) to today. The focus of the museum is on the former powder production, which was discontinued in 1918, on the history and natural history of Elsbethen and on the rural working world of earlier years.

The museum also includes a so-called "village street", which gives a historical overview of the former, craft businesses in Elsbethen. Thus, a grocer, a watchmaker, a tailor, the powder maker, a ceramist, a bookbindery and an old classroom can be viewed there.
